The foster care sector provides a safe place for over 50,000 children in the care of social services each year. According to national statistics, around 1 in 3 or those children are placed by IFAs (Independent Fostering Agencies) and it is up to us to find and vet potential carers before making them available to the local authorities.

Our team comes up against all sorts of challenges when recruiting potential foster parents and during this process, gets asked a lot of questions.

We decided to conduct a UK-wide survey to help both ourselves, and the local authorities we work with so that we may better understand the people we hope to recruit. We sent 10 questions to 200 men and women aged between 35 and 65 and the winning answer for each question is illustrated below:
